A 6 week intensive course brings the latest trends of sensual bachata and bachazouk to Oulu! This course is designed for dancers who already have a solid foundation in bachata and are ready to refine the quality of their movement. During the course, we will deepen the tone of body movement of sensual bachata, and focus on safe, connection-based partner work built with clear technique and body awareness. The goal is to create dancing that feels grounded and fluid. Throughout the course we will also develop musicality exploring playful partner dynamics and individual stylings. We begin by revisiting essential fundamentals and gradually progress toward more advanced techniques and patterns, adjusting the level to the group. Bachata continues to evolve and is constantly influenced by other dance styles. At international festivals, bachazouk has become increasingly popular, so we will explore both sensual bachata and bachazouk techniques side by side. By understanding their similarities and differences, you can continue developing your dance even after the course ends. Classes take place at Kokokeho on Mondays from 6:30–8:30 PM, followed by 30 minutes of open practice. Dates: March 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6, 13, 2026. The course is taught by Sofia Riippi, who is currently teaching bachata in Helsinki. In Oulu, she will be assisted by Edgar Garcia.
